Finances

So traveling the world doesn’t take hundreds of thousands of dollars. We document our spending everyday then sum them up after every country we visit. Below is what we have spent throughout our travels. There is definitely a trend of high months and low months. The cost of pp/day (per person per day) involves totaling up all the expenses for that country (flights to the country, food, drinks and so on). The monthly average is what it would cost if we stayed for a month just to give everyone an idea (sometimes we stay longer or shorter). The monthly average and total cost of the country is for the both of us, so divide it in half if you are wondering round a bout cost for yourself, or just use the pp/day (Per person per day) cost. The intercontinental flights were divided up by percentage of the cost going to the first country then the rest divided up between the other countries visited in the continent. Some of these costs are not the most organized and formatted the same just FYI, but will get better as time goes on. Usually they are categorized by International Travel, Internal Travel, Food, Accommodation, and Entertainment.

*Brazil was expensive because we splurged on World Cup Tickets. Accommodation was also pretty pricey due to the World Cup.

Portugal. (23 days) Total: $3,880. $73 pp/day. $4,400 monthly average.
*Portugal was relatively cheap for a western european country. If we hadn’t taken a flight at the last second to the Azores it would have been a lot cheaper.

Spain (42 days) Total: $5,300. $63 pp/day. Month average = 3,785
*Spain was pretty cheap for a western european country as well. Biking the camino was a cheap trip, costing around 7 euro a night for a bed, we also stayed with a friend for a week, so accommodation was less than normal.

*France was more expensive due to the higher cost of food, and our desire to have some good food, the car rental was a little expensive too, although we saved on accommodation once again by staying with some friends we got in contact with.
