After 10 months on the road we are calling it quits on our long term travels. We are a little tired, a little excited, a little sad, a little overwhelmed, a little satisfied, and really ready to go home for good. We have decided to move back to OKC.
Quitting our jobs and traveling long term has been awesome. We achieved what we set out to do, we explored, had fun, relaxed, camped, biked, hiked, faced challenging times, had amazing experiences, overcame fear, had time off, recharged, had our perspectives changed and so on. We set out to travel the world and we ended up touching a little of what this world has to offer, and now we are ready to go home with our minds changed. It has kind of been a combination of our decision and circumstances that have pushed us to end our travels. We were getting a little worn down, but we also had a few things come up with our dog and with our health that pushed us towards coming home. But we are completely ok with that. We are amazingly grateful for what we experienced but also grateful for what home has to offer.
We pushed for our dreams and lived simply out of our 30 pound backpacks with a few change of clothes. We heard the sand in the wind, touched the sea, wandered through mountains with nobody around, felt the instinct of wild animals, were comforted by strangers, and overcame our own fear and weaknesses. It has been life changing. It is also a part of life and not entirely what life is about.
In the next and last three articles we will write here, we will write about our highs and lows and then Katie and I will write separate pieces on our final thoughts for this whole experience. We hope through our adventures we have pushed you to pursue your passions and maybe even inspired some to go travel long term. Thanks for keeping up.
