Ok, so we have been in OKC for some time now. So what are we doing next after completely not writing on the blog for three weeks? A series of unfortunate events landed us in back visiting OKC. First our house got broken into (not necessarily a reason to come back but just added to the cause), we had doctor appointments, we needed to take a break, we wanted a little bit of time to plan our Asia route, and we needed to get our dog down to OKC. So plans have changed. Instead of going to Asia, visiting three countries or so for 3 months, we are headed to China for a much shorter trip…but we will see if that changes.
It has been nice to be home, really nice to sit on a couch, cook, see friends almost every day, and have a burger/milkshake on a regular basis! We headed out to Washington after being in OKC for two weeks. While we had the time, we thought why not visit the magical winter of Twisp, Washington and see our dog while doing so! Unfortunately our dog got in a pretty good fight with one of my parents dogs so we had to cancel flights back to OKC and drive her back. Since we didn’t want to board our dog for a few months, we decided to cut our trip short and only visit China. Initially we wanted to go to Laos, Phillipines, China, Nepal, and maybe India, but that is now changed. Part of the Asia trip was about visiting a friend who is now living in Chengdu. We have been buds since about 7th grade and I haven’t seen him in a while so it will be good to see Chengdu with him and do a few day trips.
Travel is all about being flexible. We found this out real quick in Europe, just as much as we are experiencing it right now too. We change plans all the time due to varying unknowns that consistently come up. I think dealing with these unknowns and coming to terms with our change of plans on a normal basis gives us a big learning lesson going forward. We are used to this change, and we are phased less and less when something changes our plans. We go into it being happy no matter the outcome, which is an important lesson we are learning traveling long term.
We leave for Hong Kong, Yangshuo, and then Chengdu Saturday the 7th. I will start to write more as we travel this week, as I was off my blog game in OKC. Thoughts were not inspiring and writing was a bit burnt out. But after doing it for 9 months, that can happen! Also with our plans changing about every two days, there was no point in writing about it.

One big thing you can look forward to is hearing about us traveling a day before Chinese New Year in China! Going to be exciting.
